Microdermabrasion

Want less housework? It’s said that 90% of household dust is made up of dead skin cells. As we age, this natural shedding process slows down or stops due to many factors, such as; sun damage, dry skin, oily skin, genetics, or skin disorders. The results of this is dull, dry or flaky skin, clogged pores, blemishes, and uneven skin tone. Exfoliation is a key step to help the skin to balance itself and get rid of dead skin cell build up to help you to achieve a gorgeous, glowing complexion.

What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a facial procedure that uses manual exfoliation to remove the outer layer of skin. This process works in a series to achieve the best results. Microdermabrasion helps in minimizing fine lines to improve your pores and many other benefits.

Do you use crystals or diamond tip?

We use a Diamond tip machine.

What are the benefits?

Microdermabrasion sloughs off the dead and dull surface layers of the skin, stimulating an increase in collagen production and rejuvenation. Many patients see dramatic improvements in the tone, texture, and color of treated areas after just one treatment. Microdermabrasion does not use any harmful abrasives which can contaminate your skin and the environment. It is minimally invasive and pain free. Microdermabrasion can improve:

*Oily or dull skin
*Collagen Production
*Enlarged pores
*Clogged pores
*Fine lines
*Mild acne scars
*Mild complexion problems (such as uneven pigmentation or poor skin texture)
*Texture of skin
*Sun spots

The benefits of microdermabrasion also include enhanced circulation and lymph flow, which promote the internal health of the skin.

What are the risks of Microdermabrasion?

Because the microdermabrasion procedure is non-surgical and virtually painless, it is a safe and highly effective way to restore a clear, youthful glow to the skin. There is only one, though minor and not common, risk associated with microdermabrasion: tampering with the skin's color balance (in other words, you may get dark or light patches from micro dermabrasion). Clients may experience sensitivity to the sun after the treatment. It is always recommended to use an SPF 30 or more separate from your normal skin care product.

How long does one treatment take? And can I just do one treatment?

Each treatment can take anywhere from 30-45 minutes.  Clients will see results from their first treatment. Depending on what you are trying to achieve and the condition of your skin. Typically, clients should do anywhere from 4 to 10 treatments. Treatments will need to be spaced out from 7 to 10 days apart.

Who can and can't have microdermabrasion?

Usually, the best microdermabrasion candidates are those with acne-prone skin or blotchy skin, fine lines, scars, rhytides, enlarged pores, milia, sebaceous hyperplasia and those with sun-damaged skin.

Most doctors agree that micro dermabrasion is not recommended to keratosis sufferers, people with undiagnosed lesions, active rosacea or extreme acne, weeping acne (stages 3 to 4), diabetes, auto-immune disorders, fragile capillaries, eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis or lupus. Microdermabrasion also has no visible effect on active herpes lesions or malignant skin tumors (warts). Clients on Accutane or Retin-A are recommended to wait 6-12 months before receiving this treatment.

How do I prepare for a Microdermabrasion appointment?

It is best to come in with clean skin that is make-up free. Though we will cleanse the skin before any treatment is done, this does help the appointment go smoothly with the time allotted for you.
